Privacy first

Your inbox stays yours.

BitMail is built around a simple principle: your email belongs to you and your provider. We don't want a copy, and we don't want to know who you are.

  • On-device credentials. Your password is encrypted and stored only on this device — never sent to KurdBits.
  • Zero tracking. No analytics, no crash telemetry, no profiling.
  • Sandboxed rendering. HTML mail runs in an isolated view with insecure mixed content blocked.
  • No cloud backup. Cloud backups of your credentials are explicitly disabled.
What leaves your device
A clear, honest list
Your IMAP/SMTP server. To send and receive your mail. That's the whole point.
Google Play services. If you choose to install from the Play Store, Google handles the install.
Ad SDK (one ad per 8 messages). Anonymous request to fetch the next ad. No email content is shared.
No KurdBits server. We don't run a backend that sees your mail or your password.

Try BitMail. It's free.

Supported by a single, unobtrusive native ad every eight messages. No subscription, no paywall. 30 MB install.

FAQ

Common questions.

Does BitMail read my email?

No. BitMail is a client app — your phone connects directly to your email provider over IMAP/SMTP. KurdBits doesn't run a server in between, and we never see your mail.

Where is my password stored?

Encrypted, on this device only. Cloud backups of credentials are explicitly disabled — if you reset your phone, you'll re-enter your account.

How does BitMail make money?

A single native ad appears every eight messages. The ad SDK doesn't see your email content — only an anonymous request for the next ad.

Does BitMail work with Gmail's two-step verification?

Yes. Use a Google "App password" if you have 2FA on. The same applies to iCloud, Yahoo, and most providers with 2FA.

Is there an iOS version?

Not yet. BitMail is currently Android-only.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the BitMail Android app ("BitMail", "the app") and the website at bitmail.kurdbits.com handle your information. The app and the website are operated by KurdBits ("we", "us").

1. The short version

BitMail is a client app. Your phone talks directly to your email provider (Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, ProtonMail, Yahoo, your work IMAP server, etc.). We do not run a server in between. We do not see, store, or process your email or your password.

2. Information processed by the app

  • Account credentials. Your email address, IMAP/SMTP server settings and password are stored encrypted on the device using the Android Keystore. They are sent only to the email provider you configure, over TLS, to send and receive your mail. They are never transmitted to KurdBits.
  • Email content. Your messages, attachments and folders are fetched from your email provider and cached on the device so the inbox works offline. They are not transmitted to KurdBits and are deleted from the device when you remove the account or uninstall the app.
  • Contacts cache. The app builds a local list of past senders/recipients to power autocomplete. It is stored on the device only.
  • App settings. Theme, notification preferences and other settings are stored on the device only.

3. Information shared with third parties

  • Your email provider. The app connects to your IMAP/SMTP server to deliver and receive mail. That provider's privacy policy applies to your data on their servers.
  • Google Play. If you install BitMail from the Google Play Store, Google handles the install and may collect install-level metrics under their own policy.
  • Advertising SDK. BitMail shows one native ad every eight messages in the inbox list. The ad SDK requests an ad from an advertising network and may receive a non-persistent advertising identifier, your device language and a coarse country, in line with the SDK's documented behavior. Ads do not have access to your email content. You can reset or limit your advertising ID from Android system settings.
  • Crash and analytics services. BitMail does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

4. Permissions

  • Internet. Required to connect to your email provider.
  • Notifications. Required so push notifications appear when new mail arrives.
  • Foreground service. Required to keep the IMAP IDLE connection open for real-time push.
  • Storage / files (only when needed). Requested at the moment you save or attach a file.

5. Data we do not collect

We do not collect: your name, your email address (we never receive it), your contacts, your location, advertising profiles, behavioral analytics, or device fingerprints. We do not sell or share personal data, because we do not have personal data on our side to sell or share.

6. Children

BitMail is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

7. Your rights

Because all of your data lives on your device or with your email provider, you control it. You can delete an account from inside BitMail or uninstall the app to remove cached data. If you contact us by email (see section 10), the only data we hold about you is the email you sent.

8. Website data

The marketing website at bitmail.kurdbits.com is a static page. It does not set tracking cookies or analytics by default. See the Cookie Notice below for the only optional category we may set with your consent.

9. Changes

If we materially change this Policy we will update the "Last updated" date and, where required by law, ask you to re-confirm consent.
